A few weeks ago I had the opportunity to make the short journey across town to Peckover Primary School. I had been invited to perform some songs to the Year 5s. It was the first day of term after the Christmas holidays and they were just about to start a topic called ‘All The World’s a Stage’ where they would look at performance, plays and Shakespeare.
Coming from an primary educationalist background, I know how important it is to inspire young minds to help them engage with the topic and therefore get some top-quality work out of them. It was also a chance to give the gift of live music to some who may have never had the opportunity to experience it before.
The classroom was amazing and the teachers had done a great job creating a stage in the corner of the classroom. The welcome was amazing and I had a great time playing several songs in a 40min set to the Year 5s. They really enjoyed Ed Sheeran’s ‘Castle on A Hill’ and George Ezra’s ‘Shotgun’ as they all joined in with great enthusiasm.
So, thanks for having me Peckover Primary. I hope you have great fun with your topic this term.
