#Truth Devotional – Day 3

Finding the Truth

Genesis 3: 4-6

“You will not certainly die,” the serpent said to the woman. “For God knows that when you eat from it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.” When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye, and also desirable for gaining wisdom, she took some and ate it.

There is a ‘good’ that is not of God, a ‘good’ that is not submitted to Him. This makes this ‘good’ very bad. It is a deception and a lie.

Proverbs 14:12

“There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way of death’

We need to not mistake what we think of as ‘good’ as being equivalent to a God ordained truth.

In the garden of Eden, Eve was not attracted to the evil side of the tree, but to the good side:

Genesis 3: 4-6

“You will not certainly die,” the serpent said to the woman. “For God knows that when you eat from it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.” When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye, and also desirable for gaining wisdom, she took some and ate it.

There is a ‘good’ that is not of God, a ‘good’ that is not submitted to Him. This makes this ‘good’ very bad. It is a deception and a lie.

So how can we possibly know The TRUTH?

Where do we even begin to build a solid foundation of truth in our lives upon which our understanding of life, the spiritual realm and everything can stand securely upon?

We need to go right back to the source, to God. How do we know what God has said to us, what His truth – the actual truth is? We will begin to look at the answer to this question in the next devotion of the series.

Prayer – Jesus, help me to be able to discern what seems good from what is of you. Help me to base what I believe to be truth upon you and your Word. Help me to walk in your ways and not in my own. Help me to think your thoughts, not my thoughts. Help me to love like you love. Amen.
