My roof is leaking!
Life seems to happen like this - doesn't it?  It was only yesterday that I was thinking how great is was going to be, having a 1/2 term week (as I work at a school) to gather my thoughts together, do a bit of songwriting, pull up some weeds in the garden and generally have a nice relaxing time. However, today it rained!  A typical long grey English rain that just persists without end. So everything is damp and gloomy and cold. I get home to discover that in the corner of my bedroom, there is water trickling down the wall!

So now I have visions of my 1/2 term week still being filled with all those little jobs I need to do, but I will now have to fit them in around having my roof repaired - oh and the cost of the day out I was going to have, will now have to be paid to the roofer instead!

I'm not complaining really. These things do happen - life does happen! I guess this is kind of how our walk with God works from time to time. I don't know about you, but I get confused by some Christians who go around and pretend that everthing is alright, that nothing had gone wrong. I think a much more sensible way of doing things is to say 'Yes, I have a leak in my roof, but I'm not going to ignore it. I'll call the roofer around to fix it, even if it means a bit of aon inconvenience, it is the best thing to do'.  In life we need to recognise when our roof is leaking and to call in the roofer to get it fixed, and quick! Not to ignore the issue, pretending it will go away.

So who could your (and my) life roofer be? It could be, and often is Jesus, especially if the 'leak' is sin. But the roofer could also be a good friend, a hug from Mum, or getting really good advice from a trusted colleague at work. My advice - don't let the roof of your life leak for too long because if you don;t mend the leak, the roof may one day collapse!
